Ages 1-2
Toddler (ages 1-2)
At this age a story is really a shape: the same words in the same order, a picture to point at, and somebody warm saying it slowly. These are built short on purpose — a single idea per page, plenty of repetition, and sounds worth making out loud. A toddler will ask for the same one four nights running, and that's not a failure of variety. It's how they learn that a story has an ending and the ending is safe. Read them in five minutes flat, or three times through if that's the kind of night it is.
